“Traveling- it leaves you speechless, then turns you into a storyteller”- Ibn Battuta
Hi and welcome to my travel blog (also my fashion blog! Not to mention my food blog)!
I’m Anita – a foodie traveller from Australia. I started this blog as a means to share stories of my three favourite things – food, fashion and adventure.
Nestled between the stories are gems of information on where to find the best eats; useful travel reports and itineraries worth reading; and cheeky fashion finds that just need to be shared – there is something for everyone to enjoy. I hope you enjoy being a part of this blog and your visits are fun, useful and interesting.
Leave a comment below if there is anything you would like to share, topics you’d like me to cover or to just say hello.
How it all started
My first solo trip overseas was very much accidental. A spur of the moment decision to take a semester long break from university found me living in Dubai for six months. What an eye-opener that trip turned out to be! I had discovered true freedom – freedom from inhibitions, freedom from expectations and freedom from routine. All of a sudden, I’m trying new things, making new friends and meeting interesting people – I couldn’t get enough.
I loved every minute of it.
And I just couldn’t wait to do it again. Since then, I have lived in England and had a few more travels in the United States, Asia and a bit of Europe. Traveling has taught me so much about the culture, food, traditions and customs of countries I’ve visited. But most importantly, travel has taught me so much about myself and my priorities in life that I think you only can get from travel.
Through travel I discovered a love for food. Food is no longer for sustenance alone – food is now an experience, it brings a tingle to my taste buds and it excites me. Each dish has its own story to tell and I will happily listen to the tale. I create memories with food, whether it’s eating from a roadside cart in Asia, dining at one of Canberra’s fine establishments or even making a mess in the kitchen attempting a new recipe for the first time. All of these things make life more enjoyable and take the edge of life’s more mundane activities.
Today I work as a professional number cruncher. But even the most dedicated number cruncher needs a break or two. My challenge is finding new ways to combine my day job with my love for travel in addition to balancing my love for food with my love for fashion. Loving food AND fashion don’t always agree! I’ll keep you posted on my successes and failures.
